Below are answers to some questions that we are frequently asked. If you have a question that isn’t addressed here, contact us at email@example.com
What are the black inlays made of?
Stingray leather, also know as shagreen. It is a durable material that has been used for centuries in applications ranging from the hilts of samurai swords to Art Deco period furniture and decorative objects. It is a by product leather, meaning that the primary reason it is harvested is for food. The leather would be discarded if there weren’t a market for it.
Tell me about the metals.
Not a question, but ok. The castings are made in NYC from recycled metals. The pieces are solid (not plated). The castings are nickel-free.
How do I care for the jewelry?
Brass and silver will both tarnish over time. Exposure to humidity and chemicals (perfume, hair products, and makeup) will cause the jewelry tarnish faster. The metals can be shined with a polishing cloth. Be careful not to rub the stingray with the polishing cloth, as this will damage the surface. The stingray can be gently cleaned with a soft, dry toothbrush. Store jewelry somewhere dry, preferably in a ziplock bag.
